Creating a welcoming skate facility

Thank you to everyone for your contributions in the first round of feedback for this project. We have collected and analysed your feedback and have now developed a draft concept plan based on this that we would like your further comments on.

Please look at the draft concept plan and complete the Draft Concept Plan Survey to have your say.

Please view the Frequently Asked Questions for more information on the project, results of the consultation so far, or to find out why your idea may not have been included.

This round of consultation closed on December 15, 2021 and the Final Concept will be available in June 2022.

Draft Concept Plan

Design Questionnaire

We hope to come up with a design that makes riders of all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds feel welcome – especially those who may not have used these spaces much in the past.

Kangaroo Flat Skatepark is split into two halves - an intermediate section, and a beginner section. These are kept separate -connected by seating steps from the higher shelter area to the area below. This allows us to fit more skatepark in around the existing trees on site, which can’t be removed. It also opens up the park for new users, who can learn the ropes, up their skills, and understand park etiquette at their own speed, in a comfortable and safe environment.

This design has been created through consultation with local users, community and schools. Consultation participants strongly favoured creating a flow-styled park, and splitting the skatepark into the two ‘zones’. We have aimed to assemble participants favourite elements and park style into a cohesive, free-flowing park. Let us know your thoughts!
