Procurement Policy Adopted

20 April 2026

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the procurement policy. We received feedback from nine community members.

All responses agreed that:
  • The purpose of the policy was clear and easy to understand

  • The definitions explained the terms well

  • The principles and their descriptions were clear and easy to understand

We also heard that the principles were not clear on how they supported local businesses. To respond to this feedback, we updated the policy to include a new principle focused on local economic outcomes.

This includes:
  • Local suppliers receive a 20% weighting in all public tenders

  • City Officers must make their best effort to buy goods, services, and works locally

  • Local suppliers should be asked for quotes where possible

The updated Policy was adopted at the November 2025 Council meeting. The next review of the policy is scheduled for November 2028.
