The Huntly Structure Plan will help guide how Huntly grows and changes over the next 30 years. It will look at ways to bring more shops and businesses to the area and make sure the community has the services and infrastructure it needs.

Work on the plan started in 2022. Since then we have been working on:

• The Managed Growth Strategy which helps decide where new homes can be built, especially near the Huntly train station
• Technical studies to look at how water moves through the area and where flooding occurs
• The former Shire of Huntly Heritage study

The City will get a consultant to help create the draft structure plan and two urban design frameworks next year. The community will be asked to share their thoughts on the draft plans in the second half of 2026.

The Managed Growth Strategy

This strategy was approved at the September 2024 Council meeting. This plan shows how urban Bendigo can grow over the next 30 years. It highlights Huntly as a key area for future housing and development.

The Former Shire of Huntly Heritage Study

This study looks at places and buildings in Huntly, Elmore, Goornong, and nearby rural areas that are important to local or state history. Stage 2 of the study was open for public feedback in May 2025.
