Goornong currently uses on-site septic systems to manage wastewater. Staff from the City of Greater Bendigo’s Environmental Health team will visit Goornong in March, April and May 2026. They will be in the area to look at septic systems.

These visits will help you understand how your septic system is working. Some of the information from these visits will help with the Goornong Structure Plan.

We are also working closely with Coliban Water to explore long-term sewerage options for the township.

The City has been successful with a funding application to complete a Goornong Flood Study. This study will inform the Structure Plan. The flood study commenced in 2025 and is on track for completion later this year.

The Managed Growth Strategy is a framework for future housing growth and neighbourhood character in Greater Bendigo. We have also recently started a review of rural areas. The Goornong Structure Plan will relate to both of these projects.
