Why are we trialling vape and smoke free sites?
The Victorian Government has already introduced legislated areas like play spaces, skate parks and sporting venues where people cannot smoke and vape.
Between 2021 and 2023 the City of Greater Bendigo carried out consultation with children who told us they wanted to see more areas where smoking and vaping is banned.
In response to this feedback we trialled a number of areas that may become smoke and vape free in the future. Members of the wider community were invited to provide their feedback during May and June 2024.
We are now considering the feedback. If these trials are successful, we will consult with you again before any formal changes are made. We will make more sites smoke and vape free if the community supports it. This work has been funded by a VicHealth grant.
Please follow the project for updates.
