Tiny Towns update June 2026

30 June 2026

Thank you again for all the great ideas you shared for Tiny Towns projects.

We submitted grant applications for two projects:

  • Marong Township Streetscape Beautification
  • Michie Street, Elmore Playspace Upgrade

We have been successful in receiving funding for the Michie Street Playspace upgrade. We received $50,000 from the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund and the City will also contribute $50,000.

The upgrade will include:
  • Installation of a new multi-play-combination unit

  • Refurbishment of other existing play equipment

  • Refurbishment of existing park furniture

  • Replacement of existing shade sails

  • A new concrete footpath

Works should start in the second half of 2026 and be completed in early 2027.

Although we didn’t get funding for the Marong Township Streetscape Beautification project, the City will continue to work on this project.

We received lots of other great project ideas from the community. The City will fund these additional projects in the 2026-2027 financial year:

  • New seating and clock at Marong Pool ($10,000)
  • New seating at Heathcote Pool ($10,000)
  • 175th Celebration Event at Heathcote ($10,000)
  • Amenities at Goornong Pool ($10,000)
  • Inflatable Entertainment Screen at Redesdale ($10,000)
  • New Rainwater Tanks at Neilborough ($10,000)
  • Upgrades at Raywood Golf Club ($20,000)
  • Electronic Scoreboard at Elmore Recreation Reserve ($60,000)

City staff are continuing to explore alternative funding opportunities for other project ideas.
