The Project
Local Law 11 protects public assets from damage, deterioration or abuse during private construction work. It also aims to protect the neighbourhood and environment of the community during the construction process. Public assets refer to:
Local Law 11 has expired and community consultation on the draft replacement Local Law 11 is required. The Law is important as it allows the City to regulate and protect community assets in the road reserve from damage caused by private works.
No changes have been made to the previous version of Local Law 11. The City propose to reinstate Local Law 11 until a major reform to Local Laws begins in 2027.

Update
A proposal to adopt Local law 11 was tabled at ordinary council meeting May 27, 2024.
A motion to adopt Local Law 11 was moved and passed. Accordingly Local Law 11 is now in effect for a period of 5 years starting from May 27, 2024.
The Local Law 11 is located on the City website. The updated version will be available shortly, for now you can refer to the draft version above.
