The project
The City of Greater Bendigo is creating a plan to improve Albert Roy Recreation Reserve. This plan is called an Infrastructure and Service Plan (ISP). It explains how the reserve will be developed and upgraded over time. The ISP sets a clear vision for the reserve. This includes identifying priority projects, estimates costs, and shows when work will happen.
The plan helps make sure:
- The reserve meets community needs
- Any work we do protects the environment
- We use public funds wisely
As part of a sports feasibility study of the existing playing fields, a consultant was appointed to explore options for developing the sports fields due to issues caused by past mining and landfill activities. The current land issues impact the City's ability to deliver a safe and high-quality playing surface.
With site investigations now complete, the preferred option includes:
- Female friendly facilities
- Two senior baseball fields
- Three Little League Baseball diamonds
- Two cricket pitches
- Junior soccer pitches
- Field lighting at Senior Baseball League levels as 750 LUX (infield) and 500 LUX (outfield)
